Monday morning and we got up and went to Monterrey Tec-Guadalajara campus. It's one of the most beautiful of the campuses in the system. The building above is the dormitory they built since I was here last. The sign says "Residencias."
The building is half male and half female with a solid wall between the two sides. Notice they even have separate elevators. The one on the left has a male symbol and the one on the right has a female symbol. The kids line up on the basis of interest in viewing that side.
The director of security took us on a tour of the building. this was in the entry into one of the men's rooms. Everything is included and each room has a complete bathroom. TV is optional, but cable is there.
The student lounge on the first floor.
Sign on a girl's door.
I don't usually like modern art, but this one struck my fancy. Mounted on the wall above a couch in the waiting area on first floor.
Security officer shows students how he can view all hallways and common areas to provide for ultimate security for the students.
This is the Center for International Competiveness, or CCI. It's the library and they intend to eventually expand it in modules. Notice the beams sticking out of the floor. That's where the future additions will be connected to the existing building.
Here's the daily group shot in front of the CCI building.
A model of the campus draws the attention of Jiron, Priscilla and Kimberly.
One of our first class of PhDs, Somkiat, Luis, and DrTee had an opportunity to compare notes on their respective lives while visiting at ITESM-Guadalajara.
While the profs were meeting the guys and gals got a chance to work off some energy playing basketball and soccer. They have an Olympic size pool, too.
As a surprise, Dr. Gilberto Cardenas, a former prof at UTPA and now VP of International Programs at ITESM, arranged to have a meal of Mexican food provided for all of us. Here's Kimberly leading off the line.
They even set up a tent for us to eat in the shade on the beautiful campus under the trees.
Luis, Somkiat, Angelica, and DrTee pose for a group shot. Angelica was our host while we were on the campus.
We stopped to get some supplies for the bus on the way back into town and the girls had to see the huge mall. The rent-a-cop in the background wouldn't let us take any more pictures, so only the Garcia sisters are shown inside the mall. Posh, huh?
