We arrived in Lisboa after visiting Fatima. We found a room at the Albergaria Residencial Insulana, which is located in the Baixa area. This was nicely located in the heart of town and we enjoyed staying there, even if it was a bit plain. The picture you see above is the Praca Rossio, which is the heart of the city.

A major walking street in the Baixa district. This leads down to the Praca Commercio, which is down by the river.

A view of the old part of the city taken from the top of the elevator that was designed and built by the same guy who did the Eiffel Tower.

Another view from the elevator looking toward the river.

This is the number 28 trolley, one of the old streetcars that used to take everyone around town. They still run up and down into the very narrow little streets up in the hills.

This is the gateway that leads you to the Praca Commercio.

This is the monument in the middle of the Praca Commercio.

Another view.

Those are soldiers in fancy little guard houses in front of a government building.

Even another view of the Praca Commercio.

The monument in the Praca Figuerero. That's the castle up there on the hill.

The Praca Rossio, which is in the heart of the city.

We took a ride on the little yellow streetcar up to the top of the hill and this pretty park is located up there. You can see the river back in the background.

You can see why they use these up here in these little narrow streets. We had a Mexican standoff with a big truck trying to come down the hill while we were going up. Guess who won?
