After spending five days in Portugal we took the train from Lisboa back to Madrid and found ourselves a nice hotel, Trianna, which was located near the heart of the city.

A view of the Plaza Mayor.  You can't really see it in this picture but there are portraits of peole on the walls between the two towers.

Another view of the Plaza Mayor.  It looked as large as the one in Salamanca to me.

About three blocks away from our hotel is this busy commercial street.  That's a bank with the statues on top of it.  Notice how clean it is and how modern the cars are.

Nice bit of stone work and statues adorning the clock tower on this major bank.

Pretty big sign, don't you think?  Huge graphics are normal in many places in Europe.  Mickey D's is located in the foreground.

A closeup view of statue of horses pulling a war chariot on top of the bank building.

A view of a modern street.  Notice remodeling is under way on an old church.  Also notice the statues on top of th ebank building.

A young man is walking with a sign against the torture of bulls in the bull fights.

Sallie in the park with the statue of the lamplighter.  This guy would have been charged with lighting the gas lamps that lighted the park.
