The National Palace is quite lovely.  It's still in use and is used for state occasions.  The King doesn't live here, but uses it when necessary.

Looking back the opposite direction and you see the Cathedral.  What would Spain be without another Cathedral?

There's a school of pharmacy on the Palace grounds and this is a museum showing the early apothecary jars and cabinets that were used in teaching pharmacy.

The entrance into the palace.  Nice floors, huh?

Look up and see fantastic ceilings.  Opulent gold work and statuary.  It looks like a palace to me.

Pretty details in one of the rooms.  They're all decorated elegantly and by different artists over a long period of time.

Chandeliers in all of the rooms.  Here's just one of them.

This is the Throne room.  They take Juan Carlos' photo here whenever he appears for a state occasion.

This is the main dining room for state occasions.  Pass me the salt, would ya?

A ceramic model of something.  Beautiful stuff.

You can't buy decor like this at Wal-Marts.

The Armory is fantastic.  This was a model of Phillip II's armor and his horse.

Even the urinals are elegant in this place.  They actually sell beer mugs nearby that are designed to look like these.
