Welcome! You are currently viewing the MBA program Web site at The University of Texas-Pan American. Our MBA Program is fully accredited by the AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). AACSB International-Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education; it represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. The MBA degree is a broad-based program designed to give the student exposure to management and analytical decision-making skills necessary to function in a changing business environment. We offer two different plans for students to obtain an MBA degree from UT-Pan American: the on-site Professional MBA program, and the MBA on-line program. Having a bachelors degree in a business discipline is not required for either program. The Professional MBA program requires a minimum of 36 credit hours (12 courses) of graduate study, and is generally completed within two academic years of study. (Depending on scheduling and the number/sequencing of classes in which students enroll per semester, it is possible to complete the program in less time.) Students without a background in business might also be required to take additional "MBA foundations" classes, which must be taken prior to enrolling in the advanced classes. All of the on-site MBA courses are scheduled for evening hours (or in some cases, on weekends) to accommodate the large number of students with full-time day jobs. The MBA on-line (MBAO) program is offered through the UT TeleCampus, which is a central support unit for online education within the University of Texas System. The MBAO program consists of 48 credit hours (16 courses), although students with a background in business may be eligible for a waiver of up to 12 credit hours (four foundations courses). The MBAO program can be completed entirely at a distance using internet technologies for course delivery and student support via the World Wide Web. For additional information about either program, please contact the Director of the MBA Program at (956) 381-3313 or at mbaprog@utpa.edu. A student may enter the program at the beginning of either the fall or spring semesters or the summer session, provided admission criteria are satisfactorily completed. |
